The Open Research Awards 2025 event was held on 21st October 2025, during International Open Access Week. For these, the Second Aston Open Research Awards, the Open Research Team judged the entries based on three categories: Open practices, Quality of the application, and Quality and Impact of the research, with extra weighting for open practices. The panel acknowledged the high quality of all of the applications, and selected two winners. The winners presented their case studies at the event, and the keynote speaker was Dr. Charlotte Pennington, Aston OR Awards 2023 winner and UK Reproducibility Network Local Network Lead.
