Academic staff: Joining the Library

Registering with Library Services

As a new member of staff at the University you will automatically be enrolled with the Library and an account created for you.  You will need to use your staff card as your Library card to borrow printed material.

Membership will allow you to:

  • borrow books
  • order items on Inter Library Loan

Your Information Specialist will be in contact with you about how Library Services can support you in your teaching and research

 

The smartest way to start your search

 

Enter your search term(s)

Advanced Search

 

To search for:

  • a specific book, type in the author surname and some words from the title
  • books on a topic, type your keywords and then select Books from the Limit by material type menu on the left-hand side of your results page

(Reading lists for individual modules can be accessed via Blackboard)

Your Library Service

             

You can search across all the print and eBook collections via the Discovery tool called Library Search.  You can also use Library Search to locate articles on a topic.

Reservations

If all copies of a book are out on loan and you would like to get hold of a copy you can reserve it.


Staff can borrow 35 books at any one time.


Need a book for longer?  Books are automatically renewed by the system unless they are reserved.  If your book hasn't been automatically renewed you will receive an email notification.

Book icon You can access 1,000s of journal titles via our online collection.  To find out if we hold a specific journal title please view our Journals A-Z list.
Computer icon You have access to over 120 research databases providing access to academic research papers as well as financial data, medical research, chemical formulas, industry reports, case studies and much more.  To browse our collection please view our Database A-Z list.  To view the research databases for your specific subject area please view your subject LibGuide.
