Open Access publishing for Aston authors: FAQ- Pure and Aston Research Explorer

Pure and Aston Research Explorer Questions

What is the relationship between Aston Research Explorer and Pure?

Pure is the current research information system used by Aston to manage our research activities. Aston Research Explorer is the public-facing portal that exposes the information in Pure including publications, research profiles, and our research activities. Researchers need to enter information about their publications into Pure for inclusion in Aston Research Explorer and we are able to control which information is exposed through Aston Research Explorer.

Who is eligible to use Pure?

Any Aston University member of staff can deposit their research publications. New members of staff are welcome to archive work from posts in other institutions. Please contact the RKE office to set up your Pure profile if you do not already have one.

How do I add publications to my Pure profile?

Instructions are available here.

How do I link my ORCiD to my Pure profile? Will this transfer to Aston Research Explorer and Aston Publications Explorer?

Yes, if you link your ORCiD to your Pure profile, this will automatically transfer to ARE and APE. You can link your ORCiD by following the directions here

What happens to my publications if I leave Aston University?

Any outputs you have deposited will remain in the repository, but you may also export these from Pure and archive them in your new institution’s repository.
